Spring (Q1): A strong start
The year began with an outstanding success for +Pluswerk: on January 26, the redesigned website of the "Verband Region Stuttgart" was awarded the German Design Award 2024 in the "Excellent Communications Design - Web" category.
In February, +Pluswerk published a detailed article on the new accessibility guideline WCAG 2.2, which highlights the importance of accessibility as a competitive advantage for companies.
March was all about events and expansion. From 14 to 15 March, the TYPO3 Camp Central Germany 2024 took place in Dresden, where +Pluswerk was a Gold Sponsor and co-organizer. The camp offered over 50 sessions on current topics such as artificial intelligence and digital accessibility and was attended by over 250 participants. At the same time, +Pluswerk took part in the second TYPO3 Partner Roundtable in Dresden.
At the same time, +Pluswerk expanded with the addition of the Polish software company LemonMind, based in Gdansk. This expansion strengthens +Pluswerk's European presence and brings additional expertise in the areas of data management and artificial intelligence to the network.
Another highlight in March was participation in Pimcore Inspire 2024 in Zell am See, Austria. As a Pimcore Platinum Partner, participation was a matter of course for us. The event brought together innovators and thought leaders in the field of data and experience management and offered insights into the latest technologies and best practices. We were particularly pleased to welcome Dietmar "Dietz" Rietsch, founder and CEO of Pimcore, who came to our stand to see the new AI.Hub for Pimcore from the +Pluswerk site in Gdansk.
Summer (Q2): Working and celebrating festivals
In April, we were on the road again and attended the TYPO3 Camp in Zurich, which also kicked off the TYPO3 Association's General Assembly. The largest TYPO3 Barcamp in Switzerland is an important platform for exchanging information about the latest developments, progress and trends relating to the popular open source CMS. As a TYPO3 Association Platinum Member and TYPO3 Solution Partner, we were there with our CEO Jens Krumm and three developers from the +Pluswerk site in Regensburg. In addition to exciting sessions, the focus was on networking and building international partnerships.
Our personal highlight of the summer was undoubtedly our annual meeting +Pluscamp 24, which took place in June at the idyllic Müggelsee lake in Berlin. Once a year, +Pluswerkers from all our locations come together to learn, develop and celebrate together in workshops. This year, we were able to attract renowned experts such as Sebastian Bergmann and Stefan Priebsch from The PHP Consulting Company for sessions on sustainable software development. Vitaly Friedman from Smashing Magazine provided inspiration with training sessions on workflow strategies, AI in design and accessibility. Jeury Tavares from Semikolon Consult strengthened our communication and teamwork skills. With these new approaches, we will implement our projects more efficiently in future and achieve even greater customer satisfaction.
Finally, the first release of the new "government CMS" GSB 11 (Government Site Builder) based on TYPO3 was published in June. The switch to a TYPO3 basis paves the way for a modern, efficient platform in the public sector that is barrier-free and future-proof. This decision also strengthens TYPO3 as a system and the active and large TYPO3 community behind it, which will benefit from the numerous new stakeholders from the ranks of the federal authorities. As +Pluswerk, we fully support this development and look forward to future projects with GSB 11.
Fall (Q3): Eventful and educational
Between August and October, we were present at six events in three countries and also published several new articles highlighting our expertise in various areas. Our first article, entitled "TYPO3 Urgestein", takes a look back at our long-standing relationship with TYPO3 - as one of the first companies to rely on this CMS in 2012. In the second article, "What is a PIM system?", we explained the importance and benefits of centralized product information management for companies. This article shed light on an often complex and confusing topic.
This was followed in September by the publication of the new +Pluswerk University Study 2024. The long-awaited second edition offers valuable insights into current trends and challenges. The study, which is available free of charge to marketing and communication decision-makers in the education sector, examines 450 online presences of colleges and universities from the DACH region according to various parameters of technical and communicative quality. The results show those responsible in educational institutions what decisions need to be made now and what options are available to them.
In line with this, we presented our new "Happy Path Method" for student marketing as well as for sales and marketing in general, a new method developed by the +Pluswerk location in Dresden for the effective and sustainable acquisition of new students for universities and customers for companies. Imagine a university or a company that knows exactly how to address the right future students or customers, that ensures a seamless flow of information and whose brand is perceived as clear, convincing and attractive. That is the Happy Path.
In addition to these publications, we were also represented at numerous events. It all started in August with the TYPO3 Developer Days in Karlsruhe, an important meeting place for developers and technology experts. This was followed in September by the TYPO3 University Days in Leipzig, where the latest developments in the education sector and the use of TYPO3 in university communication were discussed. Sonja Ziegenbalg and Carlos Meyer from +Pluswerk Dresden presented the Happy Path method live (video recording on YouTube). Tip: The University of Leipzig recently published all sessions as freely accessible video recordings.
At the same time, we were represented at DMEXCO in Cologne, Europe's leading trade fair for digital marketing and technology. Key topics at this year's DMEXCO were the dominance of artificial intelligence in marketing, digital accessibility and sustainability. Another highlight at the end of September was the CMS Camp Mallorca sponsored by us, a barcamp on the topic of content management systems under the Spanish sun, including a joint chill zone by +Pluswerk and PIMCORE. This was followed in October by the TYPO3 Camp Vienna, the largest TYPO3 Barcamp in the Alpine republic, where we were a platinum sponsor, and the Smart Country Convention in Berlin, which focused on digital solutions for the public sector.
Winter (Q4): Awards, expansions and conferences
In October, we were delighted to receive a special award: the team from our Magdeburg location won the "Marketing Award Saxony-Anhalt 2024". The award recognizes innovative campaigns and projects that make a tangible contribution to the regional economy. Our success shows once again how we achieve outstanding results with creative approaches and technological expertise.
This was followed in November by a highlight for the education sector: the book presentation "Hochschulbranding und Studierendenmarketing" by Thomas Kaiser, our expert from the SEO location in Munich. The book offers practical insights into how universities can strengthen their brand and target potential students. The book is an important tool for university communicators based on our many years of experience in the education sector.
Also in November, we were represented at the TYPO3 Conference 2024 in Düsseldorf, the central event for the TYPO3 community. In addition to inspiring presentations and exciting networking opportunities, our stand focused on the topic of accessibility. Our +Pluswerk game "Accessibility Memo" showed how modern websites must be designed to be accessible. Live tests with the tremor simulator "Age Man" demonstrated the challenges faced by older people in everyday digital life.
The highlight of the three-day conference was winning the TYPO3 Award in the "Health" category for the relaunch of the website of the Helmholtz Center for Infection Research (HZI). The project shows how we combine innovative technology with modern design and barrier-free solutions to present complex content in the demanding field of science communication in an appealing and user-friendly way. The award honors outstanding digital projects that have been realized on the basis of the TYPO3 content management system. Every year, the best websites and applications are recognized in various categories. In 2024, 138 projects from 59 agencies were submitted and competed against each other.
At the end of the year, +Pluswerk set another milestone in its international expansion. The Viennese digital agency Earlybird has been part of our network since December. This step strengthens our presence in Austria and brings additional expertise in the areas of UX design and web development to the team. With this expansion, we are consolidating our position as a leading provider of digital solutions in Europe with 10 locations in four EU countries.
Conclusion and outlook
The year 2024 has confirmed our priorities - reacting agilely to market changes while pursuing long-term strategies. In particular, the topics of accessibility, university marketing and sustainable digitalization have emerged as key focal points for us and our customers. As +Pluswerk, we combine professional excellence, innovative methods and well-founded, self-developed expertise.
For 2025, we are looking at a digital landscape that will be characterized by artificial intelligence, even higher demands on data security and progressive EU-wide regulation, such as accessibility. Here, we will support our customers with future-proof and sustainable solutions while further expanding our European presence. The coming year offers us the opportunity to continue actively shaping digital progress in Germany and Europe with strong partnerships and innovative approaches.
