"A Midsummer Night's Dream" has been one of the highlights of Munich's event calendar for many years. Held in the Olympic Park, this open-air event delights thousands of visitors every year with live music, a festival atmosphere, street food, and a spectacular fireworks display choreographed to the music over the Olympic Lake. The event website is the most important digital hub for the program, information, and tickets.

The +Pluswerk office in Regensburg carried out the relaunch of the event website for Olympiapark München GmbH. The goal was to create a high-quality digital presence that reflects the special atmosphere of the “Summer Night’s Dream” and gets visitors excited even before the event day. At the same time, the new website was to build upon the Olympic Park’s existing technical platform and consistently further develop it.

Project Overview and Objectives

Olympiapark München GmbH wanted to further develop “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” as a standalone event brand in the digital space without abandoning the existing technical platform. As a long-standing partner of the Olympic Park, the +Pluswerk office in Regensburg implemented the relaunch based on the existing infrastructure. The focus was on high-quality implementation, long-term maintainability, and the consistent reuse of proven concepts and modules.

The design templates were developed by an external creative agency and analyzed in technical detail together with the client. The goal was to translate the design into a web-enabled, component-based structure while combining the event’s distinct identity with a consistent technical foundation. The result was a solution that meets current requirements and supports future developments.

Benefits for the Client

With the relaunch, Olympiapark München GmbH gains a high-performance event website. This integrates seamlessly into the existing digital platform while simultaneously highlighting the unique character of the “Summer Night’s Dream.” The consistent reuse of existing technologies, modules, and concepts simplifies operations, reduces maintenance efforts, and creates a cost-effective foundation for future events and further developments.

The new website also offers tangible added value for visitors. The program, artists, ticket offers, and other information can be found more quickly and accessed more easily, especially on mobile devices. Optimized user guidance, enhanced interaction and error handling, and accessibility checks as part of quality assurance ensure a consistent user experience and support barrier-free navigation.

The new website for *A Midsummer Night's Dream* combines unique event design with modern headless architecture.
Headless
Modern Architecture
The event website uses a Nuxt-based headless front end built on top of the existing platform. This provides a high degree of flexibility, strong performance, and a sustainable technical foundation.
Multi-Site
A platform
The "A Midsummer Night's Dream" website has its own standalone presence while remaining fully integrated into the Olympic Park's platform and multi-domain architecture.
Modular
Sustainable Development
Existing modules and concepts were consistently reused and specifically expanded. This reduces development effort and facilitates maintenance and future enhancements.

Use Cases

Multi-site with its own brand identity

"A Midsummer Night's Dream" is a standalone event brand within the digital world of the Olympic Park. The goal of the relaunch was to consistently reflect this distinct character on the web without developing a separate technical solution. For this reason, the new website was integrated into the existing multi-domain structure and implemented using the existing Pimcore and Nuxt platforms.

This shared technical foundation enables the flexible further development of existing functions and components, as well as the implementation of the event’s specific requirements. The result is a scalable platform strategy that supports new event formats, leverages synergies, and enables the efficient long-term development of the Olympic Park’s entire web landscape.

Reusable Components

The design mockups provided by an external creative agency were analyzed in collaboration with the client and subsequently implemented in a flexible, component-based front end. This preserved the distinctive design of *A Midsummer Night’s Dream* while optimally adapting it to the requirements of modern web technologies.

Special attention was paid to intuitive user navigation—particularly on mobile devices. Optimized ticket access points, clear program overviews, and well-defined interaction and error states make it easier for visitors to find their way around and help them quickly locate the information they need. Accessibility checks based on the Lighthouse A11y assessment support quality assurance and contribute to a consistently high user experience.

Conclusion: A digital experience leading up to the event

"A Midsummer Night’s Dream" demonstrates how annually recurring event formats can be sustainably developed in the digital realm. Instead of isolated, one-off solutions, a platform was created that leverages existing technical strengths while also providing space for distinctive brand presentation. In this way, the relaunch combines creative individuality with a forward-looking digital strategy.

The project illustrates that successful event communication today goes far beyond simply providing information. A modern event website guides visitors from their initial inspiration through ticket purchase to the day of the event, creating a digital experience that builds anticipation and allows visitors to experience the event’s character online.

The new website brings the “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” to life digitally even before the event day, thereby becoming an integral part of the overall experience.
