At the TYPO3 Conference 2025 in Düsseldorf, +Pluswerk celebrated a special success with our Vienna location Earlybird: The project "Tag des Denkmals Österreich - Heritage Day Austria" was honored with the TYPO3 Award 2025 in the "Culture" category.

Every year, the TYPO3 Award recognizes outstanding digital projects that impress with their exceptional technical quality, successful user guidance and social added value. For our teams, the award is a reason to celebrate and at the same time proof of how modern technology can help to make cultural heritage visible and accessible.

The TYPO3 Awards 2025
The TYPO3 Awards are an annual highlight of the international TYPO3 community. In 2025, 51 projects were nominated in 17 categories, plus two non-nomination categories: "Best TYPO3 Extension" and "Best TYPO3 Camp". An independent jury of experts examines each submitted project based on clear criteria.
- technical excellence,
- UX and accessibility,
- Design quality,
- Performance and
- social or cultural impact
The Award Night 2025 provided an impressive stage for the winning projects, which impressively demonstrated what is possible with TYPO3 today - from public administration to e-commerce, from NGOsto cultural institutions.

Portal for 300 historical places
The Federal Monuments Office (BDA) is the central institution for the preservation of Austria's cultural heritage. Every year, it invites visitors to "Monument Day", a nationwide cultural event during which over 300 historical sites open their doors and provide fascinating insights.
The existing digital platform was to be modernized, expanded and made fit for the future. The aim was to create a central point of contact that offers both visitors and program partners an intuitive, accessible and efficient user experience.
At the start of the project in 2024, our +Pluswerk location in Vienna Earlybird prepared the complete relaunch and went live in August 2025. The result is available at www.tagdesdenkmals.at.

Technology with an impact
The relaunch is based on TYPO3 v13 and features numerous technical and conceptual highlights:
- Two separate frontends
partner.tagdesdenkmals.at for managing monuments, tours and images
www.tagdesdenkmals.at for exploring, planning and sharing personal favorites - Interactive map of Austria
With intelligent filtering, Solr-based search and responsive design. - Cookie-free favorites
Privacy-friendly, without tracking or registration. - Accessibility according to WCAG
For an accessible, digital cultural experience that really reaches everyone. - Green hosting
Sustainable infrastructure for environmentally conscious operation. - Content blocks
For flexible editorial work Fast, efficient and expandable without external support.
The platform thus creates real added value for visitors, program partners and the BDA - and sets an example for digital excellence in the public sector.

An award with charisma
The "Tag des Denkmals Österreich" project impressively demonstrates the role TYPO3 can play in the public sector: It is reliable, scalable, barrier-free and sustainable. The new portal thus serves as a showcase platform for cultural institutions and authorities in Austria, the wider German-speaking region and beyond. It demonstrates how open source solutions can offer public clients a long-term, transparent and cost-efficient digital basis.
